Color PPF
Austin, TX

A full color change and complete paint protection in a single film. Changes your color, stops rock chips, self-heals, and lasts 7–10 years.

What Is Color PPF?

Color PPF is a pigmented paint protection film. It's the same self-healing urethane technology as standard clear PPF, but manufactured in color. One layer of film gives you a complete color change and full paint protection. No vinyl wrap underneath, no separate step.

The film blocks UV, stops rock chips, and self-heals minor scratches in the heat. Everything clear PPF does, but in a color you actually want. When you're ready to change it up or sell the car, it removes cleanly with factory paint fully intact underneath.

Full Vehicle Coverage

We install color PPF as a full vehicle job. Every painted panel covered: hood, roof, doors, fenders, bumper, mirrors, trunk lid. The whole car gets the color change and the protection at the same time.

Available in gloss, satin, and matte finishes. If you have a specific color in mind, send us your vehicle and we'll confirm what's available and show you samples before you commit.

Why Color PPF Makes Sense in Austin

Central Texas is hard on paint. The UV index here runs among the highest in the country, and that sun is the main reason vinyl wraps fade before their time. Color PPF is built for this. UV inhibitors are engineered to hold color for 7–10 years in full sun.

Hail is a real concern in this area too. Cedar Park and the northwest Austin suburbs see more hail events per year than most of the country. No film stops large hailstones, but color PPF gives you meaningful protection against the smaller impacts that would otherwise chip and dent paint directly.

And if you're commuting on MoPac, 183, or I-35, your front end is taking chip damage every day. I see it on every car that comes in with highway miles on it. The thick urethane in color PPF absorbs those impacts before they reach the clear coat.

Why Color PPF

Protection and Color Change. One Film.

Color Change + Protection Combined

Standard PPF protects. A wrap changes your color. Color PPF does both in one layer of film. One install, one warranty, one product to maintain.

7–10 Year Lifespan

Color PPF is rated 7–10 years. A vinyl wrap runs 3–5. If you're keeping the car for a decade, color PPF can be the better financial call. One install instead of two.

Self-Healing Surface

Minor scratches disappear in the heat. The urethane top coat heals itself in sunlight or with a heat gun. Your finish stays looking new without polishing or extra work.

Rock Chip Defense

The thick urethane layer absorbs impacts that would chip through paint. Essential on Austin's highways, where gravel kicked up by trucks puts constant damage on your hood and bumper.

UV Blocked at the Film Level

Color PPF's UV inhibitors are built into the film itself. Your paint and factory finish are protected beneath it the entire time the film is on the car -- no fading, no oxidation.

Factory Paint Preserved Underneath

When you remove color PPF after 7–10 years, your factory paint comes off in the same condition it went in. Resale value stays intact.

Honest Take

Color PPF vs. a Vinyl Wrap

If you're keeping the car long-term and want real paint protection, color PPF makes sense. The upfront number is higher: full vehicle starts at $5,000 versus $3,000–$3,500 for a quality wrap. But a wrap needs to come off and get replaced at the 3–5 year mark. Run that over a decade and the numbers flip, and you've had chip protection the whole time.

Where wraps win is finish variety. Vinyl manufacturers have been releasing colors for 20+ years and the catalog runs deep. Color PPF has a solid and growing selection, but it's not the same depth. If you want a very specific color-shift, chrome finish, or something niche, vinyl is more likely to have it today.

I offer both and I'll tell you straight which one fits your situation. Most people keeping the car 7 or more years end up going with color PPF once they see the math. People who like changing it up every few years, or need a specific finish, usually stay with a wrap.

Color PPF Questions Answered

Color PPF is a pigmented paint protection film. It's the same self-healing urethane technology used in standard clear PPF, but manufactured in color. It changes your vehicle's appearance while protecting the paint underneath from rock chips, UV damage, and minor scratches -- all in one layer of film.
Color PPF is rated for 7–10 years. That's significantly longer than a vinyl wrap, which runs 3–5 years under the same Texas sun. The film's UV inhibitors are built to hold color long-term without fading or yellowing.
Color PPF lasts longer, provides real paint protection against chips and hail, and can be the better value if you're keeping the car 7+ years. Vinyl wraps have a larger catalog of finishes and a lower upfront cost -- they're still the right move if you want maximum variety or plan to change colors. We offer both and will help you figure out which fits your situation.
Color PPF is available in gloss, satin, and matte finishes across a solid range of colors. The selection is still more limited than the vinyl wrap catalog, but it's growing fast. If you have a specific color in mind, send us your vehicle details and we'll confirm what's available and show you samples.
If you're keeping the car 7–10 years, often yes. A full vehicle color PPF install starts at $5,000. A wrap starts around $3,000–$3,500 but needs to be replaced at the 3–5 year mark, putting you at $6,000–$7,000 over the same period. Color PPF also includes rock chip and UV protection a wrap doesn't provide. If you're keeping the car and want protection, color PPF is usually the smarter long-term buy.
A full vehicle color PPF install typically takes 5–7 days. The film is cut precisely for your specific vehicle and applied panel by panel. We'll give you an exact timeline in your quote.
